Lago Quilotoa (the other half)
At first sight, the water in Lago Quilotoa was blurry. Like something was floating above it. Inside it. I’m not exactly sure how to describe it.
I stood there for a while, squinting my eyes, until I could make sense of what I was looking at - the waves, the clouds, the colors - and then, took a photo.
But, in nature, in places so ancient, photos never represent the reality.

Lago Quilotoa
Half of it, that is. The whole crater lake wouldn’t fit in my lens. It’s quite large. It took Ania and I five hours to hike around the entire Lago Quilotoa.

Boca del Infierno
Spanish Conquistadors called it the “Gates of Hell.” When they first saw the massive crater in Volcan Masaya they were so scared of it they decided to baptize it by erecting a cross near its mouth.
