The first Trump tower outside the United States opened in Panama City this summer. At 284 meters (932 feet) high, it’s the tallest building in Central America and real estate agents are already selling Panama as “the next Dubai.”
When traveling, I like to visit highrise hotels and ride up to the top floor for a free view of the city. I figured the Trump’s Ocean Club was a good target.
Dirty, sweaty, and dressed like shit, Ania and I got past security without problems. In fact, they opened the doors for us. We rode the elevators to the 31st floor, but got stuck. We couldn’t go higher without a special code so we looked around and found an exterior emergency stairwell.
Slowly, we climbed up to the 70th floor. The top of the city.
Up there on Trump’s Latin trophy, Ania and I were alone. We took advantage of the privacy - something we desperately lacked back at the hostel. Afterwards, I washed up in the most luxurious public bathroom I’ve ever used …
… and stole a few hand towels.
Thanks Donald.
